Desert Greens

Subject: Sonoran Desert
McDowell Mountain Regional Park, Arizona
Though ripe with life, the Sonoran Desert is rarely quite so green as in this winter scene following two weeks of uncharacteristic heavy rains in Arizona. Saturated beyond its limits, the earth here absorbed all the water it could handle, then in turn nourished countless plants that typically must struggle to attain and retain every precious drop of dew, like the iconic saguaro cactus that only grows in this region.
